Whirlpool Sucks In Whole Lake!
Tuesday, 31 July 2007

A mining crew drills through the bottom of Lake Peigneur into a salt mine. As the lake begins to drain a tremendous whirlpool forms on the surface sucking down kilometers of land and actually reversing the flow from the Gulf of Mexico.

Another example for why humans should'nt mess around with the nature.

Yes Azamat, let's stand idly by and not do that. Good luck keeping your house warm over the winter and cooking your food. Good luck powering your hospitals. Good luck driving your car or getting on a bus.

Thankyou!

John and Rock, really? We're #1 and fxxk everything else? I will stand by laughing heartily as these apes blow themselves and all around them to sxxt. I sincerely hope this planet gets a second chance, without talking primates.

yes because if we focused our vast intelligence on alternative power sources we couldn't come up w/ anything besides oil driven devices. oh yes and it's not about money, either.

Lol

Surely this is a reason why we should mess with nature, it looks awesome

John's just not very bright. Careful, he might cry.

You're all stupid
written by reality check on January 21, 2007

You're all stupid. If you cared either way, you'd get out and do something about it instead of posting your profound message to the tens of people who may bother to read it. The difference between conservatives and liberals is marginal, really.

Go get an education
written by God on January 21, 2007

Dear John,

This is a salt mind, what the hell does a salt mind have anything to do with warming your house, powering hospitals, driving your car or getting on a bus?

I truly feel sorry for your lack of education, it must be difficult going through life not having the simple abilities, of say, counting back change.

I understand that worldly things are beyond your comprehension, that you have no critical thinking skills to think for yourself. It is not your fault. It is the fault of the whore of a mother you have and lack of a male figure to look up to. Pitty your father. But then again dont blame him what he thinks of you.

Well what do you expect from a species who's claims to fame include beer hats and Hooters?

The other side of the coin---
written by Carl Helsing-- on January 21, 2007

They may have been drilling a shaft for hydraulically extracting the salt, and could not see all the consequences.John may have thought it was for an oil well.Oddly, some coal mines and peat beds have caught fire and burned for as much as 50 years. If nature put a lake near and above any of those, you could put the fire out in a week.Nature is funny.AI Limited-by SKYTRAINZASTRON

Mind passing the salt?
written by gibletsqueezer on January 21, 2007

It's a "salt mind"? Gee - I've never heard of a "salt mind". I've heard "do you mind passing the salt?" but not "salt mind". What ever you mean, you've certainly served up an assault on the mind - which seems to suggest maybe your mind has been mined inside.

It's a salt mine. Below a large but shallow lake that flows into the Gulf of Mexico.

Yes, real smart to drill through the lake, for whatever reason, with a salt mine below.

Agree with original poster of subject "Humans". This is a project that a middle school child could tell you might not be a good idea.

Avast, ye mateys!

I like Hooters and beer hats. And beer. Giblets, your comment was genius.

Calm down people
written by sal on January 21, 2007

Calm down people. It was an interesting event, and gladly the people there got away with their lives. John is a defensive conservative who is right to point out our energy and lifestyles come from oil and gas, but attaking people for wanting to change this situation is ignorant.

Hip hip!

Excellent voiceover. That guy turned a moderately interesting event into something dramatic and terrible! Three cheers for voiceover guy!

John was right all you moss loving hippies. This accident was a result of people who were helping you drive your cars, heat your home and cook your food. Seeing as it was a rig digging for a little thing named oil that caused it. And seeing as your on a computer now don't get high and mighty acting like your a completely ecologically sustainable person because there is no way you are unless your living as natives did.
So; stfu if you don't actually know what your talking about.

Use your brains goddamnit
written by Deep on January 24, 2007

John wasnt talking about the video dumbasses, he was talking about the fact that if man didnt mess with nature we would have no resources to power the car or heat house ect.

Anyway, yeah it was a very dumb idea to drill above a mine, either someone miscalculated, didnt do their homework. Or like carl said, for hydraulic extraction of the salt that went badly wrong.

Rednecks: You stupid hippies it was an oil rig!!!!

You're all stupid, it was an exploratory drilling rig SEARCHING for oil that drilled a little to close to the top of an underground salt mine! I wish all those comments weren't so old so i could actually argue with you morons!
