That was a very hot pepper. Not a habanero, but this kid scarfed the damn thing, hence the delayed reaction. I have had a pepper eating contest with my friends, seriously, it's stupid, don't do it.

That could not have been a habanero and his acting is really bad. General info: a jalapeno is about 15k Scoville units, a habanero is in the 200-300k range (I've grown and cooked with these before. I've also ordered Red Savina habaneros rated at 500k units. My wife is Thai and cooks using handfuls of the Thai 'prik ki nu' chili peppers and I've learned to eat hotter than she does. I've gotten to the point that I can eat almost any hot food (almost, sometimes it just make you want to die). If that kid ate a real habanero, his reaction would have started at the 3-5 second mark. Also, he would not have been chewing as vigorously as he did. I hope his friend wasn't giving him water to drink! For fun, order the Mo' hotta, Mo' betta catalog, learn what hot really is.

Actually, I believe it, I (don't ask me why) ate a habanero pepper. if you look carefully, i will outline the his reactions
1)chewing-fine a little hot but fine
2)chewing-not so fine, kind of hot... (watch his face you will see the realization
3)swallowing- "it's hot, so I'll swallow it and it will stop" (not correct, but still the reaction)
4)HOLY FUCK-this is when all hell breaks loose, he gagged, puked, and screamed I, however, gagged, and then my brain sort of shut down, i instinctively tried to run away from the "fire" so i hauled ass. ended up next to a drinking fountain, drank about a gallon, then puked.
5) aftermath (not shown) this is the "why the fuck did i do that?" stage. included in aftermath, is a new respect for peppers, and a hesitancy to try spicy food again (i overcame this but i still don't eat things as spicy as i used to.

this reaction ensued because he thought "i eat spicy food, i can handle one pepper"

please, for your own sake, do not eat one of those if you are not used to EXTREMELY spicy food.
