Thank you for this insight. Your right about what you say, people are quick to judge and often cant appreciate alternative ways of thinking. I must admitt I didnt knew that autistic people could be this smart, but I havent thought about it to much since I havent meet anyone with autism.

Your way of thinking and interacting with your envirement reminds me of Buddhism, but maybe IÃƒÆ’Ã†â€™Ãƒâ€ Ã¢â‚¬â„¢ÃƒÆ’Ã¢â‚¬Â ÃƒÂ¢Ã¢â€šÂ¬Ã¢â€žÂ¢ÃƒÆ ’ƒâ€ Ã¢â‚¬â„ ¢ÃƒÆ’â€Âà ‚ ÃƒÆ’¢â‚¬Ã Æ’Ã‚Â¢ÃƒÂ¢Ã¢â€šÂ¬Ã…Â¾Ãƒâ€šÃ‚Â¢ÃƒÆ’Ã†â€™Ãƒâ€ Ã¢â‚¬â„¢ÃƒÆ ’†â€™Ãƒâ€šÃà ¢â‚¬Å¡Ãƒâ€šÃ‚¢ÃƒÆ’ƒÂÂÂ Â¢ÃƒÆ’Ã†â€™Ãƒâ€šÃ‚Â¢ÃƒÆ’Ã‚Â¢ÃƒÂ¢Ã¢â€šÂ¬Ã…Â¡Ãƒâ€šÃ‚Â¬ÃƒÆ ’…¡Ã‚ÂÃ⠀šÃ‚¬ÃƒÆ’ĉۮšÃ‚¦ÃƒÆ’‚¡ÃÆ ’ƒÆ’Ãà ƒÂ¢Ã¢â€šÂ¬Ã‚Â ÃƒÆ’Ã‚Â¢ÃƒÂ¢Ã¢â‚¬Å¡Ã‚Â¬ÃƒÂ¢Ã¢â‚¬Å¾Ã‚Â¢ÃƒÆ ’ƒÆ’¢Ã ¢ÃƒÂ¢Ã¢â€šÂ¬Ã…¡Ã‚¬à ƒÆ’ƒâ€¦Ã‚¡ÃÃ⠀ Ã¢â‚¬â„¢ÃƒÆ’†â€™ÃƒÂ ¢ÃƒÂ¢Ã¢â‚¬Å¡Ã‚¬Ã…¡à ƒÆ’ƒÆ’‚à ƒÆ’‚´m off?

The whales do not sing because they have an answer
they sing because they have a song.

Thank you for showing us yours.

Autism

I've worked with a lot of autistic people. A common misconception is that autistism equals retardation. In fact, I'd say only about a third of the autistics I have encountered were retarded, as well...and that's probably a disproportionate number, since most of the people I worked with were assigned to live in group homes; the overall percentage of austistics who are also retarded is probably lower.

I've heard many "normal" people describe autistics as people who are disconnected from reality. In my experience, they simply notice different things about reality than we do, and they develop different...um...rules, I guess you could say, about how they expect the world to work. Often, the hallmark hand-flapping, rocking, and finger fidgeting behaviors result from the stress of having their "rules" broken.

All in all, I've really enjoyed working with autistic people, because they really make you look at the world differently. If you're going to spend time with autistic folks, you have to sort of stop and rethink things that you would otherwise take for granted. It's been a real growth experience for me!!!
